When it becomes easier to find and support Black-owned businesses, everyday spending can create opportunity that stays in the community longer.

The story behind Pro Black
We are building a simpler way to discover, support, and champion Black-owned businesses—so conscious spending becomes an everyday habit with lasting impact.
When it becomes easier to find and support Black-owned businesses, everyday spending can create opportunity that stays in the community longer.

About Pro Black
Pro Black is a business marketplace built to connect Black-owned vendors with customers ready to discover, shop, book, and support with intention.
In plain English: one trusted place for finding great businesses, giving them stronger visibility, and helping each purchase become part of a bigger cycle of growth.
Bottom line, upfront
Our global economy is incredibly interconnected, often illustrated through the circular-flow model. Resources flow into and out of households, businesses, governments, investors, markets, and foreign entities. In this cycle, the resources of one sector help develop the others.
The higher the circulation of dollars in a community, the greater the economic stability and opportunities for economic growth.
Our vision
To help promote, sustain, and maintain economic empowerment and conscious spending within the Black community.
Our mission
Provide a preeminent virtual business marketplace platform that promotes and facilitates Black-owned business vendor commercial prosperity within the Black community.
Get to know us better
A marketplace only matters when people can see themselves in it. Pro Black brings local services, independent brands, and online sellers into one connected discovery experience.
Pro Black, defined
Being pro-Black means actively supporting and uplifting Black people, culture, businesses, and communities. On this platform, that commitment takes three practical forms.
Choose Black-owned businesses and help create room for them to grow, hire, and thrive.
Advocate for Black culture and heritage, and participate in moments that celebrate Black achievement.
Focus on the rights and well-being of Black people in the wider pursuit of social justice and equality.
The idea of being “pro-Black” can vary in interpretation, but it generally reflects a broader commitment to Black empowerment and community support.
From the original presentation
Bottom line, upfront
Resources move into and out of households, businesses, governments, investors, markets, and foreign entities. Each sector uses and helps develop the others.
Higher dollar circulation can create greater economic stability and more opportunities for growth.
One dollar. Different lifespans.
How long does it keep moving? The circulation dilemma
The deck compares a dollar circulating for six hours in the Black community, 20 days in the Jewish community, 30 days in the Asian community, and indefinitely elsewhere.
Where the value flows
Black community GDP contributionRecirculated inside the Black community
Circulated outside the Black community
The goal is to grow the green share—so more value keeps working inside the community.
Black community GDP contribution
The deck illustrates a $1.3 trillion contribution: only 2%—about $26 billion—is recirculated inside the Black community, while 98%—about $1.274 trillion—circulates outside it.
inside
outside
Strategic goal: increase the percentage recirculated back into the Black community.
Black buying power
The presentation notes that Black buying power in the United States was reported at $1.4 trillion in 2019 and was expected to grow to $1.8 trillion by the end of 2024. It also cites a Selig Center estimate of $1.6 trillion—9% of the nation’s total buying power—and says the trend suggested continued growth beyond that point.
It describes the Black dollar as the significant economic power held by the African American community, projected in the deck to reach approximately $1.98 trillion by the end of 2025. Much of that spending goes outside the Black community, limiting local economic growth and self-sufficiency.
The proposed response is intentional support for Black-owned businesses—helping build wealth within the community while advancing economic empowerment and equity through initiatives such as Buy Black and social-media campaigns.
The deck also presents Black consumer buying power as a major economic force projected to exceed $2.1 trillion, citing BlackWallStreet.org.
